How to set a partition

Hi, about to reformat soon my Main Computer (in sig)

I have 2 HD's

one a S Spinspont 250GB that has all music, photos etc on, so I am ok with that as I will just put everything I want to keep on that and unplug during reinstall of OS

My Main BOOT etc HD is a 74GB W D Raptor.

Never done anything with Partitions before, would it be usefull to do and if so why ? and when I do do it, how much space do i need to set aside for Win XP Pro install then on a partition.

Like I said, new to partitions, heard of it but never used it. Should I bother ?

personally i dont bother, i just get extra hard drives

-one for os/programs one for data (which you seem to have now anyway)

some people will say that its best to partition the main drive, give windows a 10gb partition and keep programfiles on a seperate one

i'd just leave it as it is tbh
