I have two m.2 nvme drives that I would like to set to raid 0. Asus x470 Ryzen 2700x.

One drive is currently a boot drive, the other data.

I have seen all the guides etc on setting these up but they are just not showing as raid in the bios. I have enabled nvme raid and disabled csm.

Any thoughts?

Once you have enabled RAID, also enable UEFI mode, then reboot back to the bios again, you will have a new menu, RAIDXpert or something like that, you'll need to go into that to set up your RAID aaray, delete any existing arrays that might be on there.

You will also need to make sure you have the RAID drivers along with your Windows Installation media, I normally just stick the drivers on the same USB stick as Windows, get them from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x470 you want the 1.26mb file, unzip them and place them on a USB stick.

Make sure you have any other drives disconnected.

Once the Windows installer loads, you'll see the 2 drives, dont delete anything, they contain valuable data, select load driver, navigate to the AMD driver folder on the USB stick containing the RAID drivers. the first one to load is RCBOTTOM, your drives will disappear, now load driver again and select RCRAID, you'll see your drive now as one, and finally, load driver one last time and select RCCONFIG, you can now proceed to install Windows.

Once Windows has finished installing, install the AMD RAID installer package from the link above, and then the chipset package, if you're using Samsung drives for instance, do not install the nvme driver from Samsung for instance, this will cause your system to BSOD and no longer boot.

Firstly many thanks for a great post.

I can get into the raid xpert but the create array is greyed out. Because I suspect I need to delete the existing array! It’s only my ms one drive array but will it delete data too?

Doesn’t matter as can always redownload!

It does sound blooming complicated but I’ll give it a shot! Thanks again:)

Yes it will delete all the data, its fairly easy to be honest, the first time around it can be a bit daunting, but you get used it it, I think because its all done in the bios now rather than before when the RAID used to have a separate bios.
