how to set outlook 2007 as default mail client?

but the outlook 2007 IS default mail client, also there are no other mail client software installed.

i've got no idea i get this error message

anyone?

Try going into Internet Explorer > Tools > Programs > Set Programs > Email as Outlook '07.

Can probably access that screen elsewhere also.

Edit: Obviously that's XP.

Same route, but Programs tab and then Email as Outlook '07.

You can run office diagnostics from the help menu in Outlook. We have been getting this happening lots at work and this has solved every case of it but whats worring me is why? My inckling is a windows update has caused it but I'm also worried it may be a virus.

I have been unable to find a cause, has anyone else?

Just had a thought, have you uninstalled windows desktop search? or installed windows desktop search 4 from windows updates?
