Ok I may be loking too hard but I have an Asus A8R-MVP m/b and have noticed in CPU-Z that I'm currently running x8 and not x16 on my graphics PCI-E slot. I have a switch card in slot 2 which is x8, which I know has to be in there as I'm not running 'Crossfire' yet. I'm stumped as i cannot find any settings in the BioS. My graphics card is a Powercolor X1600 PRO 256 DDR3 Extreme Edition which I think has a X1650 chipset. My set up is as follows...

Asus A8R-MVP m/b
X2 939 +3800 @ 2600
Stock voltage @ 3.50
2x1Gb V-Data PC3200 @ 333MHz
500w Mercury PSU (who?)
and good air cooling!!
Idle Core 0 = 36c
Core 1 = 35c

Hope this is enuf info :)

Are you sure you've got your graphics in the blue, and the switch in the black? The black slot can only handle 8x.

Yeah I did double check earlier but I knew that anyway, read the manual when I bought the m/b coz I didn't know what a switch card was. Come to think of it, I have had the switch card out once so It might be that it isn't seated properly........if it is that then just call me stoopid  I'll go check

Bought a Zalmann CNPS8000 just before I started oc'ing for the 1st time few months ago. (Learnt everything I know off you guys!!). Air flo inide is good, 1 90mm on front just below DVD dragging air in (taken blanking panels outs), 1 90mm at back pulling out, 1 120mm directly above CPU cooler attached to side of case pushing out, another 90mm attached to side of case above Graphics pulling in, a PCI slot exhaust blelow graphics pushing air out and another 90mm in HDD bay pulling air in. a lot of fans tbh....

Could be the switch cards not in properly as you say, or the wrong way around as they definately run at 16x with the card in the blue, and the switch card in the black slot, used to have one of these boards myself with an x1800.

OK, I feel a bit stooooopid now. Have just checked the switch card in the black slot and it looks like this...

Now, I saw this when I 1st bought the m/b and didn't take it out, I've just looked in the box and found this.....

Hmmm... Just swapped them around and now I get this....

 (Modjo gives a subdued 'woohoo'!)
