Hey
My old X-Fi by default for 5.1 used Front, Centre and Rear speakers. I have my rear speakers screwed to the wall so this was ideal for me. However my new Asus Xonar D2 won't do this. If I plug the rear analogue into the rear slot on the card, then no sound comes from those back speakers at all. I have to put them in to the side slot.

Any solutions?

5.1 is 2xfront/1xcentre/2xside/1x Subwoofer.

The rear channel is added for 7.1.Your rears as you call them, are actually a side channel so leave them plugged plugged into the side port, you'll be hearing correctly distributed 5.1 sound this way.

For rear sound add 2 more speakers for a 7.1 setup.
