how to set up duel monitors?

So I have a 17" lcd monitor that I was using with my last pc taking up space and collecting dust. I was thinking why not use it to extend my desk top and put my rainmeter temp guages on.

So I hook up the monitor to my 6950 using the dvi the gpu detects the monitor but catalyst says I cant due to my current display settings, if I hover over the 17" monitor it says it is disabled

How do I get this to work?

Right click on the desktop > screen resolution > click detect

There's a box toward the bottom that says "multiple displays" choose "extend desktop to this display".

lol I tried that before I posted and it didt work, I forgot to pull the dvi from the mobo.

yeah as you can see I'm not having a good day
