hi,

im just building a tower really excited and a bit confused on how to set up the fans do the all need to extract?, ive got a water cooler on the cpu, that has two on it, one side is pushing the other side exhales it out of the case.

on the rest of the case there is one on the bottom ive got that pulling air into the case, one on the top and one on the side extracting does this sound about right?

thank you

Sounds pretty good. What kind of graphics card do you have though? And where is the CPU cooler's radiator situated?

If its one with a custom cooling that blows air all over the place, like a directCU II, set the side fan to extract. (Talking about the GFX here, edit).

If its a reference "Blower" model, set the side fan to push air in.

Your bottom fan sounds good.

Basically, you want fans on the front to push air in, back/roof to push out. However you will not need any extra fans by the sound of it.

(WHEE first post.)

ive got the water cooler venting to the rear, then 1 top, bottom and side, ive got all holes filled up.
not got a graphics card yet next project have to save some money up really skint shall i vent that to the side?

cheers

Right, that sounds good. The top one should be venting out, the watecooler to the rear, just as you got. Bottom one should be venting in as you have.

That sidefan depends on what kind of cooling the card has. Any card that does not blow air out (has 2 fans or more), you need to exhaust the heat away, so the sidefan must vent out.

But, if its a reference-cooler card with just 1 fan, a radial fan, then the sidefan can blow in to help cool it.

These are just my opinions though, best fan placement is always determined by yourself by checking the temps.

Edit: out of curiosity, what case is it?
