How to setup a private VPN?

With the new snooping bill coming in, I was thinking about setting up my own private VPN, as I already have a dedicated server in france. All my home internet goes through Untangle, so I could setup a IPSec client on that and an IPSec server on my server (both with untangle)?

Set up OpenVPN on your vps
Connect untangle to openvpn tunnel

I've setup OpenVPN on a Raspberry Pi. Works great, I can stream content to my tablet when on holiday in France (BBC iPlayer etc). But most decent routers have OpenVPN as configurable option these days.

If you have an ISP who constantly changes your IP (Sky), then you can setup Dynamic DNS. Or like me I've written a BASH script that checks every 10minutes and if my IP changes it sends an email to my phone.

I setup a VPN server this weekend following this youtube video - as a complete noob when it comes to linux i had to rewind and rewatch parts of it a few times but only took a couple of hours to setup
