My friend has win 7 on 2 PC's and wants to share a USB external HD with them both. She wants both PC's to be able to access the HD and be able to alter / update files etc.

How do you do it in Win 7? Step by step guide.

She did have XP on one pc but whatever she tried she could not share the HD with both PC's so she has bought a Win 7 so that both pc's have the same OS.

Any help would be great. Cheers

Sounds like something that Windows 7's Homegroup feature would be able to sort out.

As for a guide, google one I'm sure there are plenty with nice pretty pictures.

Or you could get something like the Addonics USB NAS Adapter from here. This would turn the USB drive into an ethernet connected drive that either PC could easily access, without the limit of the USB hosting PC having to be switched on for the slave PC to access the drive.
