Anyone flogged a combo like this on the well known auction site? If so how did you ship it please? Where did you get antistatic stuff from?

Whats to stop someone saying "it doesn't work" when it did when you posted it?

I might flog my Q6600/MB/CPU and possible case in sig below. I need more memory for my VMware stuff...

First thing is to take a photo of all the unique numbers of all the products you are selling, so should the unwiley buyer try to palm you off with a different motherboard/cpu, you can tell them to GTFO.

Secondly, do you not have the box that the motherboard came in? It's got all the packaging and anti-static you need, certainly for motherboard, cpu and memory (if you are talking cooler as well, then you might have problems, and I'd probably box the cooler separately).

I wouldn't sell the combination without the original boxing. Re-sale is one good reason not to throw any such packaging. Unless you can find a similar package, I wouldn't sell tbh.

As for saying what happens if the buyer says it doesn't work. Well likewise, who's to say it worked in the first place. Trust is a two way street. Make it perfectly clear of your return policy before you sell.

If you don't have your original anti static mobo bag the best alternative is to wrap the mobo in paper/card. Put in an over size box and pack with newspaper.

If the cooler is a standard size you can leave it on. If it's a large one take it off and make sure it's well packed, won't move and damage the mobo in transit.

Naturally take a photos of the bios screens showing the cpu/ram installed. Maybe Memtest results as well.

(I always keep original packaging myself)

Thanks for the tips. Will search in the attic in case I kept the box. Normally I do but got a sneaking suspicion I might have burnt it all last year during a clear out, thinking "no one will want to buy that MB/CPU combo, its four years old". I am quite surprised at how much it is still worth, it will part fund an upgrade to i7.

If I cant find it I'll move it to my daughters PC.

I wouldn't be sending a mobo out withuot the correct box like.
Similarly would deffo not send with a Cooler attached.
Mobo in its original box with CPU and memory installed should be a doddle.

You shouldn't have any problems selling it mate. The Q6600 is still a decent CPU for general work and gaming. Having the original motherboard box is probably the most helpful thing to have to hand but if you upgrade then you could just pop your old board into the new box. As has been mentioned above it's vital to take down all serial numbers for all your components and make this very prominent and well known on your advert.

Take a few pictures to show condition and perhaps one of your desktop with date, CPU-Z showing motherboard/RAM/CPU details etc.

Selling on ebay generally has a higher chance of encountering scammers etc, you could try the members market here or classifieds on other forums if you're a member there.
