How to shrink a .DMG file

Have a large DMG file that I want to burn to a single layered DVD (all I have) and I have used Transmac to remove unwanted files from it. Thing is, though I've removed 2Gb of unwanted files, Transmac still reports the DMG as being the same size? Any ideas on what I've done wrong?

Wouldn't it be easier to whack it on a usb drive?

Not too sure on steps using a Windows, but extract the files and then either create a zip file or a new dmg from it. DMG's are a fixed size.

Pretty sure you can shrink DMG's using a Mac aswell.

That would make sense, so I've created a new DMG file that is the right size, but have no idea how to add files to it from another DMG. And Jay794 I don't have a big enough USB stick on me sadly

Does it need to be a DMG?
