We've been using SharePoint 2003 for a short while but already the LDF files have become quite large.

Normally I'd use DBCC Shrinkfile to reduce transaction logs in SQL 2000 / 2005 databases but these are SQL SSEE (embedded) so I can't connect via Enterprise Manager or Management Studio.

Anyone got any ideas?

You can connect to SSEE databases using the normal management tools. You probably just need to unhide the instance in the SQL Config Mgr. It's in the properties page off the protocols context menu.

Yeah cool - I had to connect to np:\\.\pipe\MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE\sql\query using Management Studio. I think you're limited to what you can see and do in terms of SSEE from the console but I can at least run a query to reduce the transaction logs. :)

Cheers.

Thanks again. I don't suppose you're a user of SharePoint? After stopping all SP services, and the SSEE service, I moved a large msf and ldf file to another disk volume due to disk space running out.

I've cleared the volume up and moved the files back. Restarted all the services but the site will not load in IE.

Any ideas? Just about to check IIS.
