Just got a part time job for alittle extra cash on top of my main job and one of the benefits offered is the Cycle2Work scheme but unfortunately because they don't take it account my main jobs income I am only offered £730 .

Currently I have:

  • 2009 Cube Agree Race GTC Carbon frame/forks.
  • Ultegra Calipers and front and rear mech (Compact gears).
  • 105 Levers.
  • FSA Carbon Crankset.
  • FSA Carbon Seat post.
  • 105 Pedals.
  • Prologo Saddle.
  • Carbon Speedcycle 60mm Carbon clinchers with DT Swiss 350 hubs which i think are tubeless ready (Chinese).
  • Continental Grand Prix 4000 SII.
  • Fake Time Carbon bars and stem (Chinese tatt).
  • Have a decent enough helmet and shoes.

I am just a summer rider a couple of times a month maybe and obviously the bike is really old but now but im stumped on how to spend this money as unless im mistaken buying a whole new bike would not really be much of a upgrade at this price point.

So do I upgrade this bike somehow, buy something else (Accessories or servicing)?

Just seems like a crappy price point to do anything with.

What would you do in my situation?

I wouldn't bother. You are still paying 50+% for all those bits you may not really need?
I think my CTW is £2k now, so will likely get something that i don't really need as have three bikes already. Bikes are a bit like PC's ... the urge to get something new is a pain in the a**.

C2W isn’t a total no brainer. The tax savings (depending on what bracket you’re in) can be outweighed by being restricted to certain retailers with less choice/higher prices.

If you don’t need anything immediately why not stick the equivalent monthly amount in a savings account until you find something you need/want?

sounds like your spending money for the sake of it
Kinda in the same position with my bike although my bike it only 4-5 years old.
was considering a new bike but then the prices kinda not worth..

Also you won't be able to buy bike upgrades like you used to be able to on C2W as a lot of stuff is now not allowed, so your best bet is clothes at this value.
