I have a little problem, I have windows vista basic premium on dvd and I want to reinstall it onto my acer aspire one but I have now realized that I only have a portable cdrom I gave my dvd drive and caddy to a friend at work but now I no longer work there so I'm screwed (cant afford a dvd drive atm) unless I can find a way of splitting the dvd into two smaller bootable Cd's.
So I thought Id ask on here :) is there any way to split the dvd into smaller bootable Cd's ?

a) you need to read the DVD to put it into your hard disk.

b) magic ISO will split and make bootable the CD's. I do not know the Vista file system on the disk, but older windows just had an i386 folder which was all it needed to install.

You can install the software from the hard disk I believe.

I'm guessing you have a CD drive but not a DVD one and thats why you need to split them? You post is difficult to understand...

If you have a big enough USB drive, download HP USB Format tool then format to FAT32 then copy the contents of the dvd to the USB and if your laptop can boot from USB it should boot to install.

Im sure i heard a few people who done the USB Flash Drive boot on the Aspire One. Although what i done for my Brother was to DualBoot Right enough, But i just mounted it to A virtual drive using PowerISO.

All you have to do is copy the files over from the dvd onto a pen drive (fat32 format mine was) and then boot from it with the boot manager. I cant remember what key you have to press

Thanks for all the helpfull replys I'll copy the disk to a usb drive and give that a try :)
