Hi there, every 2-3 days I receive a notification from an app called "Storage Booster" which I'm assuming is a virus due to the way it behaves. It basically scans my photos without any user prompt, and then tells me I have duplicate photos on my phone, and probably sends the data collected back for processing/data mining.

How can I turn of this scanning or remove this virus please.

I have looked in the options and cant find anything.

Here is a screenshot of the virus in action:

It's a Samsung A5.

To be honest this phone has loads of viruses preinstalled from the factory which I simply cannot remove. They've made it pretty much impossible to remove the viruses.

Is it possible for android virus scanners to remove viruses like this Samsung Photo Harvester as well as other malware like Microsoft Word and Facebook.

But then I'm assuming the virus scanner such as Kaspersky is also a virus because it's sending data back to Russia?

They're not quite a 'virus', it's referred to as bloatware - typically manufacturer owned apps that they have installed as part of their base OS.

Android does let you disable these apps to prevent them from running. If you go to your apps list and select one of the apps, you should get the option to disable or force stop.

Using ADB as suggested above and disabling or uninstalling is a good method that I use for non-rooted phones and Tablets. Disable if you're unsure whether uninstalling the app would cause problems. Note that if you reset your phone the bloatware will return even if uninstalled through ADB.

I use Minimal ADB
