How to stop pop-unders?

Ok so I have pop ups mostly under control, haven't had an unwanted one for ages now, but pop unders seem to be in fashion nowadays, and they seem relentless. I assume they are triggered in the same way as pop ups? But how come I can't seem to prevent them? It's proving to be a proper pain in the ass especially seeing as my piece of crap laptop crumbles as soon as they appear... Any help appreciated!

Get hold of Admuncher. Brilliant little program, I've used it for years and never seen a single potentially malicious popup or popunder. Its one of the few programs I've actually bought. Far more effective than the likes of Adblock for Firefox.

You didn't say what browser you're using.. if you're using Firefox, then i'd recommend Adblock Plus as that gets rid of 99.999999% of stuff for me.

If you're using something like IE then...... I dunno (and good luck!) ;)

The extension itself won't block 99.999999%, but with the right filters/filter subscriptions you can block a large majority (although still probably not 99.999999% - and even if you did you'd probably get quite a few false positives)

Pop-unders can be blocked when you block the script that call them, which is possible by adding a filter to catch ad scripts/sites/hosts.

Well yeah but with the recent changes, adding the subscriptions is now part of the setup (instead of using the separate addon). Also using the Element hiding helper adds a lot more control........ pretty damn useful for blocking specific bits on pages... but I digress....

Use No-Script. Blocks the scripts running on the page until you allow it so..well I'm sure you get the idea. That + Ad-Block Plus = win

I agree. I tried the program and it works really well. I'm consideing buying the program. The only problem is it doesn't come with a life time license.

It might not be a lifetime licence but I've been registered for 7 or 8 years and never had to pay any more [they've been on v4.x since then and v5 isn't on the horizon yet].

Seriously, I haven't had any malware in that time and I put it down to using Admuncher in conjunction with Opera.
