So just did 13 miles home from where and evidently I stink after a bike ride, like really stink, I had the awkward moment in the lift with David platt and the ginger cop bloke from coronation Street, they were talking and when I got out it went silent they obviously could smell me, I was so embarrassed. How do one get rid of the whiffy BO smell or prevent the extremes of it

Wash more often and find a deodorant that fits with your body’s natural “aroma”

Failing that accept your a stinking **** :p

Shower immediately after exercising - easy.

Exercising creates sweat all over your body. Sweat smells. You cant deodorize your whole body, only solution is to wash it off.

How often do you wash your clothes?
What temperature?
What fabric is it?

All of this is the biggest factor if you're washing regularly.

I can go to the gym or go for an hour run or two hour bike ride and sweat bucked loads and never smell.

Sooner or later my t shirts I that I wear will start to smell after all the sweat that's been through them but then you just bin them.

Is it your actual body that smells or the clothes you are wearing?

Shouldn't really start smelling bad immediately.

I keep a 35ml Dove Clean Comfort spray on me if I know I'm going to be very active during the day and/or have a 75ml one in my bag or work locker.

For some people I think it is genuinely medical though - I work with a guy at the moment who only had to jog up the stairs and you can smell him a mile away - but he does atleast try to avoid making anyone else suffer and goes mental with the Lynx at regular intervals.

Fresh sweat shouldn't smell at all. That smell is caused by the waste products of bacteria on your skin which feed on your sweat.

^^

This, If it bothers you , shower before you exercise.

If you still stink, you might have some sort of metabolic problem and should really go and see your GP.

Tip: Use a good antiperspirant and make sure you put it on BEFORE you exercise. This will reduce the nasty smell a lot.

Deodorants on the other hand are a waste of time, you need to shower after exercise to truly get clean.

Very bad idea to cover your sweat glands with aluminium oxide before a workout.
Just a wash before you exercise is all you need. Failing that, an Old Spice aluminium free deodorant stick works well.

high fat and high protein diets tend to smell pretty bad in terms of sweat, you also said it was after a bike ride, it could also just be your clothes if you use them regularly for exercise, even hot washes never completely remove the bacteria that builds up from skin, sweat and dirt in clothes, and even just body heat is enough to make them smell bad after a short while.
