how to stop sss noise on speech

how do you stop the ssss noise on speech? seems to be more prevelant with sky than blu ray.
running keff eggs as centres and a kef 3001 centre with a onkyo sr705 reciever.

is it the tone on the amp needs turning down or its just a failing of the reciever.

If it's sibilance, and you have access to eq. then reduce the db on the freq around 5k-7k.

thats the one couldnt remember what it was called. any ideas how id do that on the onkyo

Sorry not familiar with that amp. With the Yammy's you get the option to adjust the eq from the on screen menu/display when you set up your speakers.

It's in the menus under Speaker Settings. You also have regular bass and treble controls: Press the [RECEIVER] button followed by the [SETUP] button on your remote.

I'm surprised you're getting sibilance with Kef egg speakers though. I've always found them laid back to the point of dullness. A bit of trouble-shooting might be in order. Run the system in pure stereo mode; does it still sound the same?
