How to stop this stupid 'Sign in to Cortana' box?

I have to use Windows 10 on a laptop, I've just installed it and it's logging on with a local account.

How do I stop this stupid box popping up continually? It's worse than Clippy.

I don't have a Microsoft account, I have no need or desire whatsoever to sign in to Cortana but I can't stop this from repeatedly appearing.

Can you uninstall, or start> run misconfig and disable at startup.

I HATE Cortana so I popped into Services and disabled the darn thing. I Prefer Firefox.

There's also a powerscript you can get from Google that will strip Cortana from the operating system. Then you can use something like O&O Shutup 10 to make sure it's not coming back.

Keep the script handy though, this is Windows 10 so it will try to put this crap back when you do a major update. I now have a file of scripts I run after every major patching, and it ends up correcting lots of settings that mysteriously reenable and reinstall themselves.
