Looking for some advice. What is the cheapest way to record a live event / performance that is happening in one room to a room next door? It's basically simulation training for doctors to practice certain emergencies in a safe environment.

I have a router so wifi or lan via power line adaptors or I could run Ethernet cable, an iPad, iPhone, GoPro and Apple TV. Also have various laptops both Mac and windows. Hopefully I'll have a tv with hdmi.

Thought about recording the event on an iPad and mirroring the screen on the Apple TV but not sure the video / audio quality would be good enough although it doesn't have to be amazing just
good enough so that the audience can follow what's going on.

Can anyone recommend a setup that would have fairly decent audio and visual quality, thinking I might need multiple microphones and different camera angles would be best as in the past these simulation scenarios are live and sometimes people stand in the way of the main camera. What equipment would I need and could I use any of the equipment I already have? I don't want to spend much but don't mind spending if there is a good solution although <£500 and preferably <£100. All ideas welcome

In the end I experimented a bit and decided to run the audio and video separately. With two iPhone's an iPad and Apple TV you can stream high quality video from iPhone's camera app over wifi to the Apple TV. Then either use FaceTime, Skype etc for audio from iPhone to an iPad on speaker. Cheap solution anyway.

That's the thing about medicine, there is a huge gap between expectations and reality. Glad I have expanded your awareness

what kind of doctors and emergencies?

trainee doctors and emergency related to the patient?

or qualified doctors with fire/power cut etc building type emergencies?

Webcams would have been my suggestion, it's what one of our training providers use for their emergency control room simulation training.

The scenario we are going to play out is what to do for an anaesthetised patient during an operation in the event of a nearby fire. It's not just for doctors (in this case surgeons / anaesthetists) it's for the whole theatre team to get an idea of their roles, finding the right equipment and working out how to communicate in that specific situation. The people running the scenario, including me are anaesthetists and we're not particularly up to date with the latest technology outside of the mainstream. I did consider buying webcams but then realised I could save some money by just using the phone as we don't have a budget, this is the NHS after all!
