How to swap these ceiling light fittings for normal light bulb ones?

Hi,

I have a new build home, and for some reason they made two of my ceiling light fittings into these strange ones that don't take normal bulbs (attempting to save energy maybe!). Even though you can get LED standard bulbs now...

I'd like to get them swapped for normal screw bulb or bayonet fixings if possible, however how easy is this to do? I'm certainly no electrician.

Fitting I want to replace:

The type of bulb it presently takes:

I'd guess I'll probably be best off getting an electrician in to do the job?

Cheers!

Thanks gents, having watched that video it's probably more than I'd like to try myself, probably safer all around if I get someone in to do it...

I'll have a ring about tomorrow probably but it looks like a quick/easy job for a qualified electrician at least.

I probably don't live far from you. It would take me longer to drive to you than to do the actual swap.

I'm not doing anything tomorrow afternoon so if you want me to supervise whilst you do the job, I can (or I can do it for you). Just Trust me, it'll save you £40 or so.

Bickaxe - I appreciate the offer mate, I may well take you up on it on the understanding that you'd probably have to do most of it (read: all of it). Unfortunately I am at work tomorrow, best time for me to do anything would be evenings after 8 or weekends.

I'd also guess that I'd need the required fittings before anything could be installed, so a trip to Screwfix probably would be in order first (I'd need new LED bulbs from there anyway).

If you are confident to do the work, I don't mind dropping you a few beers or some cash or whatever to make it up to you. I'd need to know what stuff to buy though given all I have is some screwdrivers and not much else! :D

Where in Fareham are you located? I am not far from the Sainsburys at Broadcut.
