How to tell if a COD 4 CD Key has been banned?

Bought a copy off ebay the otherday after feeling nostalgic, only played for about an hour, but one server I joined said I had been banned.

I'm not 100% sure how the banning/blacklisting works on COD4 and I did have punkbuster servers only enabled. Anyway, is there a way to find out if my particular key has been banned before I leave feedback?

Since you played for an hour on other servers, then I would assume that that particular server has a local ban on the CD key you are using.

As far as I am aware, if there was a global Punkbuster ban on the CD key you are using, then you wouldn't be able to play on any Punbuster enabled servers.

IIRC theres a "community" run bans list (which is officially supported but isn't global GUID bans) which a lot of server admins subscribe to as well as the official bans list.

By far the majority of game keys sold on for games like COD4 tho are banned ones personally I wouldn't touch an MP game sold on ebay and the likes.

or get guide and put on here ill check it for you give you relevant details ;)

get last 8 digits of the 32 long code

Ahh balls, looks like the guid has been banned.

I'm probably being noobish here but should I not publicly give out my 32 digit guid as y'all can screw with it? Because when you type in the 8 digit guid to some of these sites it gives you the full one anyway?

It's a very old violation too by the looks of it, Jan 6th, 2008 for an aimbot. Cvar mom_aimbot = 1

 :(

In the console it said something about a pb level 1 violation and name stealing too, I think that must be from when I connected to the server that banned me? Is this a massive deal as most servers still seem to let me play.

Very cool, thanks, but what does this mean for me? Is the ban against my cd key or IP or something else? That last alias was me.
Are there only certain PB enabled servers I can't join? And if the ban is against my key is there any way I can appeal it to get the game back to fully playable?

Thanks for everyone help so far btw :)

no unless its not got pb on your stuff for online probably why he sold it in first place. this is why you dont by second hand games especially if you go online.

now even if you buy a new game that will be linked to this ban . so if someone checks out your guide they will see this ban and think hmm hes a dodgy mfer even though you arnt.it wont effect you as in gaming online but it will tar your rep which can be bad if you want to play in a clan or competitive sometimes.

How about the buttons on one of those sites that says you can appeal it?

If the ban was over two years ago is there no way to get it revoked or is it permanent no matter what?

Sorry, but I don't really get this. What is the guid linked to? The name I choose to display? The CD Key? My computer or IP? How would putting a new CD key in not fix it?

I've only just started clan gaming on MW2 for fun, but obviously I don't want any rep tarred.

I'm not a PB expert, but isn't it linked to the CD key? It looks like the original cheat had the game, got banned and sold it on (around 16th June 09). Then it looks like the new buyer sold it on as it was useless, (after keeping it for a while). Then the OP bought it and played online.

If the OP bought a new copy with a new CD Key, I don't see that being linked to the previous ban. Even if it's banned by IP, a lot of people out in the big ol world, haven't got fixed IP's just a range. So the OP should be able to play his new game without any PB trouble.

all pb games are ip linked and guide linked now ;) only admins can see this though.

this is why i said what i said.

so if you buy a new game you will be fine on everygame you play it on. so dont worry about that . its only if say a admin checks you out the banned game you used to have will be linked to your ip and guide ;) cause you have used the game online. so your name alias will be on the master ban list. hope you understand what im saying.whether its right or not im just letting you know.
