Latley i am having quiet i few memory problems, first off my GEIL 6400 ram stopped working, went to switch on computer and it would turn on for a few seconds then turn off again and keep doing this. I was running 2.2v-2.3v for around 8 months. I had already ordered a P35 DQ6 and i picked up some cheapy 667mhz ddr2 and all was working fine, until thursday when i tried to turn the computer on in the morning it was just doing the same as it had done before, turning on for a few seconds then turning back off. I took that RAM back to the shop they tested it and then said it was faulty and gave me a refund. I then bought some more RAM from a local shop and once again the computer it just turning on for a few seconds then turnong back off

Any ideas, i am getting a little annoyed now. When i take the RAM out of the computer it does them same as when it in there, turns on for a few seonds then back off  is this normal?

first thing is to run memtest on all yuor ram sticks, this will find out if one or both are buggy. Then you can go from there

with the cheapy 667 ram i bought i used that with the new motherboard (P35-DQ6) and it was working fine for just over a week, i was running it at 800mhz and 2.25v, i did notice my case temp was up to 36c the day beofore the computer stopped working - thats why i thought it was the ram, i thought it had just got too hot and died.
I think i mite have to take the RAM back to the shop and ask them to test it

right i got some new ram this morning and still the computer is not working. If i take the cpu out of the socket then turn on the computer, it will turn on but do nothing as opposed to when the cpu is in the socket it only stays on for a few seconds, do this mean that it is the cpu that is the problem. I am almost at the end of my teether now

with the new ram did you try just installing with one module in?

Also you could try removing all the cables /devices that are attached that you dont need to boot in to get at the bios.

Also have you tried resetting the bios?

also have you tried taking off the heatsink and then putting it back on again. (make sure its going a good contact)

thats right it will do that, when you switch on your machine , the processor does all the work (ie read from the bios chip etc..) if its not in nothing works.

Yes, i only bought 1 512mb module

yep, unplugged all my hard drives except one then whwn it still did'nt work i unplugged that hard drive and plugged in a different. I also only had the mouse and keyboard plugged in via usb

I cleared the CMOS many times

tried this one

It stays on but does nothing without the CPU in the socket but if i then replace it, the computer will shut off after a few seconds and it just restarts and keeps going it this cycle

I still think it may be the RAM, the one i have now is has the chips on one side where as the ones i have had working in the past had chips on both sides of the stick. I have ordered a CPU ( a celeron) and some team extreem ram. If it still fails to work then maybe it could be the video card?

What motherboard is it? Gigabyte P965-S3/DS3/DS4/DQ6 all have a known cyclical reboot problem, the ASUS P5B has a known cyclical reboot issue and the ASUS P5N-E SLi won't warm reboot with the JMicron SATA controller installed, so it may not necessarily be RAM especially if you have updated the BIOS recently?

It's a gigabyte P35-DQ6, i had the same issue's on my last board EVGA 680i, i thought it was the EVGA and as i had ordered the DQ6 when the problem first come about i was'nt too bothered. Once the DQ6 was all installed it still did'nt work with my geil ram and i bought 1 512mb ram stick and the computer worked for a week. Since then i have tested 2 more modules and the computer is still not working. I RMA'ed my geil ram modules

the plot thickens, i recieved 2x512mb sticks of 800mhz team extreem ram this morning from overclockers. Put one stick in and the computer booted and i got into the bios. As i thought all problems were over i turned off the computer and installed the second stick and now i am back to where i was before. The computer turns on for a few seconds then back off. I have tried it with one stick but still no joy. Is there any champe the my enermax noisetaker is playering up and killing the ram? I don't see what else it can be now :(
