I have a hard drive which the Windows on it is corrupted, I was about to reinstall it but it struck me it's off an old system. Is there anyway to tell if it's x86 or x64 just from the data I have on this drive (which is currently plugged into my PC). I should also note that I don't know what windows is on this drive either. All I do know is that it's an old Dell with a LGA775 motherboard.

Can you browse any folders plugging it into another PC as slave?

Look for folder(s) Program Files (x86) as only 64bit has that as its default folder is simply called Programs Files and 32bit will only have Programs Files.

agreed, if its 32 bit then it will have 1 program files folder if its 64 bit then it will have two and one will have (x86) at the end

It was a 32bit OS (I'd already thought about the program files folders) but a 64bit CPU, I found a performance log .xml in system32 that listed the CPU model so I figured it from that. Thank you all for your suggestions though.

Many PC manu's esp back then still use 32bit OS to get better compatibility as less headaches to call centre from peeps.

It could be either 32 or 64 OS TBH.

If it was XP I would say its 99% sure its 32bit as the 64bit version never really took off and got poor support from 3rd parties (drivers etc) and even MS.
