Morning fellas.

My Touch battery is on its last legs for some reason, and i'm just about to send it off to Apple for a replacement. After a full charge, it barely lasts over 2 hours with the screen turned off, and refuses to turn on every morning. I know its the battery because my iPhone doesnt do this, and it never used to. :o

Anyhow, being the Apple geek i am, i jailbroke it a while back when i first got it (January), using the old methods before ZiPhone and such. Then decided to upgrade it to 1.1.4 and then used ZiPhone to do it quicker than before. When i got the Touch, it came with 1.1.2 which had to be downgraded to 1.1.1, then back up to 1.1.2 with jailbreak procedure.

What i am worried about now is the fact that the bootloader may have been changed or updated when i used ZiPhone. I'm not too clued up as to which version i originally had, and which version i possibly have now, or which version i am going to need to revert back to (possibly).

Now here's the hard part. The Wi-Fi on it is DEAD, so the only way is via the USB cable :(

Thank you! :)

Was this the iPod touch that got put through the wash :p

As for the bootloader, I did mine on my iPhone last night and if your sending it back to Apple, it needs to be 4.6 bootloader.
I don't know how you can check it without the WiFi, but the Bootneuter app once run, it highlights your bootloader version, obviously, if 3.9 is shown, slide it to highlight 4.6 and then click "Flash"
Another app I've seen is "Hardware Info" this was on YouTube, but I can't find it on the app list (If anyone knows it, please tell), this tells you straight up the bootloader version, but you can't flash it up with this app.

Yeah thats the one :p

Have just installed Bootneuter on my iPhone and it shows v3.9 which i can see can be upgraded to v4.6 if i need it to. However, i guess there is no way of seeing what version is on the Touch, so i may just have to chance my luck :o

"If your phone was bought with firmware 1.1.2 or newer pre-installed, your phone has Bootloader v4.6 installed"

Although Ziphone must automatically downgrade it to v3.9 then, as that is what my iphone is currently on, and i just let that do its thing when jailbreaking, which would suggest that the Touch is too on v3.9 :(

I'm gonna take it back to where i got it from with the reciept (think indian food) and try there first. If they refuse, i'll take a chance with Apple, although they'll most likely know its been jailbroken.

What's the best way to restore? Ziphone has DFU mode, recovery mode and normal mode. I want to wipe all music and visual signs of it been jailbroken. Also, what firmware should i use? Orginally it came with 1.1.2 so i'm swayed to put that back on, but dont know if it'll make a difference with any other.

Thanks for your help.

I don't have a iphone so may be wrong however my understanding is that the Ipod Touch does not have a bootloader 3.9/4.6 version this is only for the phone part of the iphone.

So if you are returning your touch you should have nothing to worry about I would just restore it fresh using itunes before going to the shop.

Anyone confirm this?

Would love for it to be true. Would make me a little more confident sending it off :D

The iPod Touch does have a bootloader, but I'm not sure if it gets touched in the Jailbreak process like on an iPhone.

You will have to risk sending it off.
