How to tell which program is accessing a file..

I am currently unable to delete a file from within Windows as it is reported the file is in use. I have restarted the computer however no success.

It is merely 1 part of a compressed backup set.

Can I use a program to determine which files are currently being accessed and by which application?

Download the sysinternals pack of apps. Filemon probably does what you want.

Also try "dll list" or somethign like that. Also could start in safe mode if you want to delete the file.

unlocker is better and the "best" util for just this problem.

yup unlocker is what you want here

filemon would tell you, but unlocker will help you delete it

Found it while looking for Sysinternals.
