Just testing a chip a freind has bought to build a new system. Its a Q6600 SLACR. Taken my E4500 chip out and slotted in the Q6600 boots up no problems show 4 cores during post but Orthos only showing CPU 0 and 1 when stress testing and Task Manager only showing 2 cores. How do I check that all 4 cores of this CPU are functioning properly. Also tried setting an affinity in Task Manager and only giving me option of CPU 0 or CPU 1 also in Task Manager, Performance tab only showing 2 graphs for CPU Usage is this correct for a quad core or should it show 4?

Cheers

I’m no expert, but I think on some motherboards you have to enable the other cores.
Another Reason could be the Motherboard Drivers; you may have to update them in windows.
How many CPUs (Cores) Does Device Manager show?

Another thing might work is a CMOS reset, even though it shows at boot 4 core's it might work.

Ps. Sig is to big ,max 4 lines os std text.
