How to test if PSU is working?

Is there a way to test if it works without using a motherboard? I plugged the molex connectors into some fans and switched it on, but nothing happened, the PSU fan doesn't turn on either. I ordered it from Overclockers so if it is broken will they send me a replacement?

What are the specs of the pc including PSU make and model.

yeah you can buy a special psu tester. they are very cheap

Do bear in mind that the green to black technique as shown in the video doesn't necessarily tell you that your PSU is working fine. If it fails to start then yes it's broken but if it does start up then it could still be faulty, just not in that way.
