Hi guys, recently been getting a few memory dumps and im not sure if its battlefield 2 causing me problems, or if its a bigger problem with my memory.

Just wondering if tyheres any way i can test the memory for errors, so i know if i RMA it that it wont be sent back and fine and be charged for making a **** up.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers - Nixeh -

Yep, download memtest86+ (Google be your friend) and a boot disk (again google will help), boot from the floppy and run memtest for an hour or two.

Some people say you should run for many hours but I find it's not necessary.

I have had situation before when Prime and other games were fine but only Memtest and BF2 produced errors. Just goes to show how hard BF2 is on most systems.

what if i dont hav a floppy drive to boot from. Decided against one when i put my computer together as i wouldnt use it (obviously didnt turn out that way)

Not got one you can plug in temporarily? Either that you can burn it onto CD I think.

Also some MBs now come with it in the BIOS, if it does you can enable it there and it will automatically run.

Hi Nutbuster - I think I might have bad RAM, See this thread:

But BF2 is fine and I've run memtest86+ for a few hours and nothing. Can you tell me what sort of errors you were getting in BF2.

Regards.

Yep, BF2 would either pause for about 4-5 seconds and drop back to windows with no errors or messages just a big f u. Or it would pause, black screen and make nasty noises through my speakers.

Thought it was my GPU overclock and took a while to work out as my ram was fine in memtest for about 30 mins but BF2 could crash it just as quickly:O

First off for the above problem i think thats cause of graphic driver probs. I had that and reverted back to 6.2 omegas and it was fine.

Right now onto my problem.

I ran mem test for 2 hours straight and it was clean. I am now officially stumped to what my problem is.

I get memory dump errors which restart me, sometimes in battlefield 2, and sometimes in windows. Then sometimes my machine will just randomly restart and its happened on all sorts of applications.

Anyone got any idea what my problem could be as im not sure where to go from here.

I will run mem test through the night just incase to see if it brings up anymore errors but i doubt it will.
