Hey,

I have an Antec 300 case, and I was wondering, how the hell can I tidy all of my wires up, they're everywhere, it's hard to put them in the little place built fro them as some aren't long enough to go there. Any help?

got a pic?

you could buy extension cables if it would help. Also get some cable ties and cable tie mounts.

i just shoved everything behind the hard drive cage and kept it there with cable ties.

need a pic rly :)

hmm, id recommend unplugging everything and starting a fresh.

when you plug everything back in, take time with each cable and plan out where you could hide it best.

try to keep everything over to the right, and hide what you can behind the hard drive cage using cable ties.

start by leading all the power supply cables to behind the hard drive cage, then plug things in behind it and lead the cables for the mobo from behind the cage.

if you get me lol.

I plan on doing that soon anyway, when I get some more fans, I will be trying to hide it all out the way, just when I get 3 new fans there will be less room to move it. Luckily my dad has 1000's of cable ties for work, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Firstly get them photo's resized fella to 640x480 or something. They are far too big for this forum.

Secondly if cable management is a priority then your case is a complete turkey imo.

Someone might be able to show you a few examples of one that's been modded to hell to tidy it up but its hard to sort your cables out when there is no space available in your case.

Ive had no choice but to do all the cable tying in front of the motherboard. Using the least amount of cables on the PSU would help as well, and the ones that aren't in use, remove altogether as you got a modular PSU.

Look where cables are roughly being routed the same way and see if you can tie them together, take up any slack available by shifting them out of the way of the mobo and tying into the inside rim of the case where possible.

The last piece of advice I can offer is remove all the components and start the build again putting your components in with a cable tidy head on you might find it makes a bit of difference.

Ive worked with a few 300's on builds and hate them with a passion. For about a 15 sheets more a Coolermaster CM690 can be bought that offers around 10" more in length, pre-cut mobo tray holes for cable routing and far superior cooling options.

Hope that helps a little bit fella.

Hmmm, I think I will do that on Friday or Saturday then, I just chucked everything in because I was getting frustrated when I was putting other parts in, I really want to get rid of my mobo, it sucks so hard.

it is possible if you take your time.

this is mine not so long back, although i did only have one hard drive and one cd drive which i would imagin made things a lot easier for me.

and yes, i had run out of black zip ties.

Taking my time isn't something I like doing xD I only chucked it all in because my mobo is just made for the old case it was in, which is why I want to get a new one, so it's not such a pain when connecting the power button. Anyway, wow, nice job, I might just do it tonight or tomorrow, maybe tonight since I feel motivated to do it now....

As above, i would start from scratch. Unplug all cables and start fromt there. Take a look at EdGey's Antec 300 build which you should be able to find on this forum as he did a great job with cable management for the 300 imo.

Also try and plan everything. Get the main power cables sorted out (24pin and 4/8pin). Then get the hdd/dvd/fan wires all sorted out and stuff them in the small compartment at the back. Using the cable ties to hold the wires there and the 300 comes with some good ones which can be reused. Then get the front panel/switch cables connected and routed down the side or even under the mobo if your able to. Then pop your graphics card in, connect the cable pcie power cable to it which should be able to be routed round the back. And your done.

Seeing as your getting new fans, also replace the rear exhaust fan because the 4pin connector on that isnt helping you with cable management - get a standard 3pin one and wrap it round the fan and connect it to the mobo or route along the top panel if you have a fan controller. Id also give the case a good clean out and after doing cable management temps will also be be better, especially for that graphics card.

Just a few pics of mine but its nothing special because my motherboard has some awful locations for the 24pin/4pin. But you might get some basic ideas from it ;):

unplug all the cables and start fresh. it is the only way. i usually do the power first then everything else. power cables first as they are harder to route later on.

get some zip ties and have fun with them. prolly the most important part of the case :p
