Hi,

A acquaintance of mine has decided they want to transfer their entire website and all associated email accounts from my server hosting to another host completely and have someone else admin it.

I'm quite happy for this to take place but I'm slightly in the dark about how it all goes, having never done it before. I want to wash my hands completely of the entire site, domain and all email accounts and have nothing to do with it in future so I'm not keen on simply letting them point at my nameservers here on my own hosting. I'd rather it went completely in one go!! ( Long story, wont go into any details ;) ).

I'm thinking the best way for the "guts" of the site to be handed over is to simply burn all the files to a DVDR and hand that over to them?.

But what about the technical issues?. How do I transfer the domain completely to them?. And as far as email accounts go, how do they transfer those over?. Once the domain is on their hosting do they simply set up the corresponding email accounts in their cPanel and then re-enter their own mailserver details in Outlook, Windows Mail etc?.

Many thanks in advance for any advice. :)

Use cPanel to make a full site backup, (databases and everything), and give it to them, (DVD to let them download it)

As for domain name, if it's with the same company, say 123 reg, they have inbuilt tools for transferring between accounts. If it is between companies i've never done it, but I imagine you go to the company you want to transfer it to and click the 'transfer domain to us' button then tell them which account to associate it with.

E-Mails, once they are in possession of the domain they will be able to sort out their own emails, re-setup their accounts etc.

Cheers folks.

It's not with the same host no so it will be between two completely different companies. I don't even know if the new hosting package the person has will be cPanel based. But I'll make a backup of everything via my cPanel anyway in case it is.

As far as I can see, I get an EPP key from my host and pass the details on to the other person. Then they take it from there. Is that correct?.
