How to transfer files to a iPad 3?

Looking to transfer around 40 PDF documents of varying lengths, powerpoint files, documents etc.

I can view them online fine, but I don't know how to save them.

Also, how can I transfer movies from my PC to my ipad? Do I have to purchase all my music from itunes or can I use music on my desktop?

PDF - dropbox (or iTunes)
PP - won't be readable
Word - dropbox
video - iTunes (if in right format)
- VLC if not

If you want to view PP files install Keynote.

GoodReader is an excellent file viewer which also has very good file transfer abilities built in. It can hook into Dropbox, FTP servers and you can even set it up so it's accessible as a shared network drive on your PC.

For getting/playing movies on your device I use AVPlayerHD, which is highly recommended.

You can add any music you already have to iTunes..just drag the music from windows explorer to the Library section in iTunes and it will be added to your Library and thus available to transfer to your ipad.
