Several people have asked in the past how to get a transparent Adium contact list like mine, so here you go...
First off you will need to temporarily run this edited version of Adium to change the contact list opacity. (Download here - 21MB)
1. Quit Adium and run the version you just downloaded (don't replace your Adium with this one)
2. Open the preferences (CMD+,)
3. Select Appearance and create a new color theme from the drop down list...
4. Give it a name like Transparent contact list.
5. Make the settings look like this...
6. Do the same for the list layout...
7. Now to finalise the setup you need to match these contact list settings...
NOTICE
If you have not used the version of Adium linked above you will see that its not possible to make the contact list 0% Opaque...
Before:
After:
8. This is optional depends on how you like it, if you want to turn off the shadow and make the contact list actually just rest on the desktop on above windows (recommended) then follow these additional steps...
8a. Go to Advance then Contact List, disable 'Show window shadow'
8b. Also tick 'Show on all spaces' and set the 'Show the contact list' option to 'Below other windows'
This is the finished piece...
Any questions then please feel free to ask!
