its something that really bugs me when i speed type a search a huge list of possible search queries comes up and distracts me (if i type Win.. for windows i get 'winter wonderland'), sometimes in my haste i hit return and its selected one i dont want.

I tried going into google prefs (the cog icon) and turning off google Instant predictions, hit save and it doesn't work? cookies are enabled

same thing happens on chrome, opera and firefox. i looked through the menus and cant find a way to remove it either?

its a small thing but it cheeses me off no end. I also tried changing GIP when logged into my google account and it made no difference.

all cookies are enabled too.

Im that desperate ive started to use Bing lol at least that setting works!

thanks

This can be quite embarassing - whipped my phone out to search for something for a friend and up popped a few previous searches I'd rather they didn't see!

You used to be able to turn it off but I don't think you can any more. I use the google search part of firefox to avoid it most of the time, you can right click the text box and untick 'show suggestions', not ideal and not what you are after.

done the above ^ its a feature that doesnt work it would seem.

still happens. in fact even bing only remembers for one session for me

ohh well il take the advice and use the search bar on FF

If you want to wipe previous searches, then tell Firefox to delete autofill history on close? Can found under Privacy tab in options. You will see 'Firefox will:' and then a drop down box; Click that and hit custom. At bottom you should see 'Clear history when Firefox closes' and then 'Settings'; Go in here and tell it to forget autofill form history etc.
