Have a 4890 and an overclocked Q6600
fine, but I'm finding the performance of the 4890 ever since the ATI drivers supporting Java GPU acceleration were released really hampered if:
(1) any video is playing in background while gaming (ok this is very rare, and may have only been say News24 in background to listen to while playing games, so not something you do all the time)
(2) any video "window" is open, but video not playing, this is the real annoyance, so be it Youtube or whatever, even if video is finished, but you've left that firefox window open, it seems to be using GPU cycles ...
easily demonstrated on say Dragon Age, playing the game just now, only 30fps, alt-tab out, and a video window in firefox is still open on a tab I'd used earlier in evening, but video has long finished, close that window down ... alt-tab back into game, fixed 60fps now ....
any ideas ? don't need GPU acceleration for video so would like to permanently disable it for flash etc
cheers
