I'm struggling to undo the standard top that comes with the D5. I've tried looking at some videos, and I've done it in the past with different D5s, but I'm really struggling with this one.

Firstly, do all D5s have remove able tops? I'm pretty certain this one does

Secondly, any other tips? I've been trying all day with no avail :(

Dammit, that's what I was doing all along. Any way at all to make it easier? I don't have the muscles necessary :(

If worst comes to worst... some cloth around the gnurling.. large adjustable wrench.. hold the motor and hit the end of wrench with a hammer/mallet/wooden object

Surely someone must have glued it together for it to end up like that! - Adam

No idea how it ended up like this. It's my oldest D5!

I think that it must've had some limescale in it, but even the delimescaler didn't do anything :o

had one that was an absolute mare to open, so took my dremel to the threaded ring :p

How many discs did it take? 4 of may dremel disks died during this :(

Use one of the rubber pullers used to undo Oil filters on cars.

But then they are tight for a reason, you'd complain if it fell off :P

I'm the sort of person who'd take my car to a garage to get it fixed :p

I would certainly complain if it fell off, still haven't seen one as tight as this before though! Glad the ordeal is over ;)
