Hey guys,
Bought a 2G iPhone second hand and the guy I bought it off updated it to 2.0 firmware. I want to downgrade it to 1.1.4 and then jailbreak it, thing is I am unsure whether I should use Ziphone or iLiberty. I heard that Ziphone is risky if it fails and it will brick the iPhone. Is this true?

Also how do I go about downgrading? I am using 7.6 itunes at the moment, should I just uninstall and then install 7.5?

Thanks.

So the "Ziphone can brick your iphone" isn't true?If so I guess I will use it then. Do I need to do anything before using Ziphone? Is it just the case of downgrading to 1.1.4 and then just select unlock on the Ziphone software?

Could downgrade to 1.1.4, pwnage or winpwn, then upgrade to 2.0 again. Then you have an unlocked, jailbroken 2.0.

Try as you might, you'll struggle to brick the iPhone.

iTunes 7.5 to downgrade to 1.1.4, ZiPhone to unlock. Really is as easy as pressing the "unlock" button.

Well I tried to downgrade it but I get a "This iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occurred(1015). Any ideas?

Hi
I got the same message trying to restore a ziphone unlocked 2g phone yesterday. I'm running 1.1.4 software and tried different iTunes releases, Inc 7.5 and 1.1.3 firmware.
Both the ziphone restore and full hardware restore gave the same message.
Can anyone help us out? Would pwnage work? (I'm on a full iPhone contract and would like to try the v2 software)

Well I was using Winpwn before and I could never get it out of the restore process. I downloaded and used Ziphone 3 and just unlocked it and it works now.

Got it unlocked now using Ziphone but for some reason I can't download apps or go on the net via wifi. I am connected to my router and get full signal but Safari says it can't locate the server when I try and visit a website. Installer app says it can't find the host or something similar. Any ideas why it is doing that?

Also my contacts are stored on my Voda sim and on other phones it can see the contacts but when I insert it into iPhone it can't find any of the contacts? Why is that?

contacts are stored on the iPhone; what's on the SIM isn't seen I'm afraid. I used iSim to copy them to my iPhone. As for not being able to get on the web, sounds like a config/network problem to me. I'm sat in the garden typing this on a 1.1.4 iPhone that I restored and unlocked using ziphone on Tuesday.

Any ideas to why when I try to install apps via Installer I mostly get an error saying "Error, Package download failed"
