How to unlock a iphone SE?

I'm trying to unlock my sisters SE, never owned a iphone before so need advice.

I rang tesco with her IMEI and it was automated and they gave me a 8 digit code.

I've put a diff sim in and it won't activate but it's not asking me for a unlock code, what am i doing wrong?

iPhone network lock is controlled by Apple, I don’t know how Tesco work but generally when a network unlocks a phone, they update the central database. I’ve never heard of an iPhone being unlocked by any code.

Are you sure that the code you’ve got isn’t a PUK code? It sounds like it.

Yeah after doing some research it's a puk code I'll have to speak to someone real tomorrow.

All sorted, had to ring Tesco to unlock it on their end.

When I had my last phone unlocked from EE, I didn't need to do this.
