Hi,

I would like to update the BIOS for my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe from Version 1015 2004 to the latest Version 1805 2007 to see if it may cure a problem with Windows 7 auto sleep and generally bring me a bit more up to date. I have downloaded the file from the Asus website, but there is no readme with the download and I am a bit wary about proceeding. I posted a query in the Asus forum about a week ago and no response to date.

Is there anything I should know for Windows 7-64bit and also how do I make a backup of my current BIOS first to reboot my computer in case there are any problems? Will I need to reconfigure all of my current BIOS settings after the update?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Axel

Extract the BIOS file to a Usb memory stick, then pop into the BIOS and flash with ezflash,it will be one of the f keys and follow onscreen prompts

Alt + F2 on boot if i remember right. Whatever you do, do not update it using Asus windows update software as it is well known to brick boards.

Many thanks for the quick reply.

"Extract the BIOS file to a memory stick"

I do not have to extract it as it is an *.exe file so I will copy it on to the memory stick.

"then pop into the BIOS and flash with ezflash,it will be one of the f keys and follow onscreen prompts"

Sorry you have totally lost me here. Can you give me a step by step for this part please?

Idk with that make/model of board but press delete at the asus startup screen, then look for ezflash and one of the f keys to update the BIOS,then point it to the Usb stick/bios file

The bios for that board should have downloaded as a zip file. Unzip the file to the usb stick and it should be a .bin file not a .exe file. I just went to Asus website and downloaded it to check myself and it is as i said above. Did you get it from here (top one)?

With the bios on the usb stick reboot and hit Alt + F2 to bring up EZ Flash. If that doesn't work keep hitting delete and go into the bios. EZ Flash should be in the tools section. Select it and point it to the file on the usb stick and after asking if you are really, really sure you want to do this, hit OK and let it do it's thing. If successful it will reboot after the flash. It's a good idea to clear cmos and re-enter your settings after a bios flash as well.
