I have the PowerColor Radeon HD4850 PCS+ 512MB. It's a good little card, but I'm beginning to want more. My dilemma is this. Do I get another HD4850 512MB because they're so affordable right now and put it in crossfire, or do I sell my card (probably only for £70) and buy something else? Perhaps an HD4850 1GB or HD4870 1GB? I haven't got a lot of money available right now, so I'd want something really good value.

Hi there, I too am looking at a upgrade from a 4850..fantastic card (my res is 1440x900) only reason im looking to upgrade is to future proof a bit more, the way ive been looking at it though is when the next gen 5*** series cards are out? As as long as its not q4 going into 2010 would be best to wait..if not Get a gtx 260 look awsome for the money. :)

It is a great card, but I'm at 1650x1080, and probably going to be moving up a bit in July (getting a proper salary for the first time!) to a better resolution, and I can't see the 4850 holding up.

CrossFire 4850s are your best and easiest option really. If you want a single card; a 4890 or a 4870X2 tbh. Upgrading to a 4850 1GB would be a waste of time and the 4870 isn't all that much faster.

Well I can wait a bit. I won't be changing resolution until at least July, and I'm not too impatient. reflux, do you think that Crossfire would be a respectable difference?
