I'm wanting to use 2 psu's in my system one will power all my watercooking setup and one will power my system. Problem is how do u wire the second psu to turn on when i turn the main system on ? The only other option it to try amd sorce an old AT Power supply that just turns on with the switch. It does not need to be powerfull as it only needs to power the pump and 3 12cm fans and maybe a couple of devices like hd's amd cdrom's just to relieve my main power supply from powering everything in my system. Are there any guide's anywhere on the net. Thanks steve.

I think if you wire up both ATX 12V 20/24 Pin connectors together with an adapter and then turn on the computer they should both start together.

Think my brother got such an adapter with his Lian-Li case.

Something along the lines of this:

Why on earth would you want to do this.. Can you post your full spec up?

The only way I see you can do this is to split the ATX connector into two - I've not seen a two way 24pin atx splitter. #checks#

Dual PSU 24-Pin Adapter Cable - yes they are available.

I'd prefer having one PSU though.

500w or 550w psu cant remember, amd x2 5200 @ 3.4 ghz, 4gb pc6400 memory, 8800 gts, 8800gs, 2x dvd drives, 3x sata hd's, extreme gamer sound, pci tuner, water pump 3x 12cm fans on rad's, 2x 8cm + 1x 12cm + 14cm for cooling the case. Sorry about spelling amd how its laid out i'm typing on my mobile phone. Thanks steve

as Will_3rd said, get an adaptor, i got one with my silverstone tj-07. CBA to use it for anything as ill always have one psu so i just ripped off the bit on the two pins and use it as my shorting device so i can turn on bits of my pc without it plugged in :)

As stated, you can get the adaptors or wire it yourself if confident (and feel safe doing so)

I have 2 psu slots in my case and might do the same, saves me buying a 100w or 1200w (use 620w and a spare brand new 400w, 620 for mobo and 400 for pumps fans hdd's etc)

Guess using 2 psu's make sense if you have ones to use save spending over 150 quid on a larger single one, like most things it's down to personal pref i reckon

Yep my thoughts too i cant afford a large power supply and i have a few 300-400w power supply's lieing around and one 250w so gona use the 250 to power pump, fans on rads plus maybe a few hd's and cdrom's

thanks

steve

Yup, quite easy to do actually. All you need to do is ground them both together, and you attach the green wire on both PSU's together (While keeping them connected to the motherboard too). Theres adapters to do this for you, or you can get out the wire cutters.
Code:
PSU main--> Green wire -----------Motherboard
                            |
                            |
PSU 2nd --> Green Wire ------

Simples!

Forgot to mention

You can buy twin psu power leads (1 plug going to 2 psu ends)

Saves using 2 leads obviously and would look neater me thinks (not that 2 leads look untidy, but heck if they're available why not use em ;) )
