How to use firewire?

Realy confused and google has been no help. I have a firewire cable plugged into mi laptop and desktop, how do i use it

its driving me crazy

It just works like a normal cable to connect a device.

firewire-networking in windows PC's was removed from Vista and ALL future MS operating systems.

firewire's pretty useless these days anyway, what with everything being SD cards or USB.

If you want to network them, swap the firewire cable for an ethernet cable.

You can network with Firewire, but it's a pain in the ass and was discontinued after XP.

Best implementation was Target Disk mode on the Mac. It rocks.

oh... that sucks... £10 down the drain....... oh well have to make do with wireless for now
