How to use SSH/Putty with cPanel

Can someone give me some basic instructions on how to connect to SSH/cPanel using Putty.

I've read about creating keys etc but nothing seems to work.

I've watched other video tutorials where all they do its open Putty, type there domain and login using their cPanel username/password.

Any help would be great.

If you're setting up SSH to use private\public keys then you shouldn't need to enter a username and password, that's kind of the point, unless the SSH server is also configured to additionaly require login credentials.

Sounds like you're just having problems with mismatched keyfiles.

Keys have never been easy for me to figure out either so thanks for the link!

To OP, depending on your host, you may have to ask for SSH access to start with - it doesn't always come switched on as default!

Yeh I had to ask for JailShell access before I could access my host via SSH.
