Hi all I have a friend who is on Talk Talk internet, he as recently brought a wireless laptop and wireless Belkin ASDN router, but he is having problems connecting it all up, he as been told that he no longer needs the Talk Talk modem and to connect directly to the router and the router will act as the modem but he is having problems setting it up, as anyone been in this situation or can anyone give me a step by step walkthrough on how to do this ?

Would add that it would be a good idea to reset the router to factory defaults (with power on press reset button with a pin for 10 to 20s) and clear out any old dial up or wireless connections already set up.

Also to keep things simple get the adsl working via an ethernt cable then set up the wireless. It just makes things easier if someting goes wrong.

Belkins CD should let you do this via an ethernet cable easily.

I think this is where he had the problem, he connected his RJ11 cable from the phone line to the Belkin then a RJ45 from the Belking to his PC then inserted the CD follwed the on screen instructions but when it asked him to connect to the net it just came up saying he was offline, I think I will pop up after work myself to have a look.

I think I may know what the problem is, he is following the step by step instructions on the disk and when it is asking for username and password he is typing in his Talk Talk username and password, do you think this could be why.

Depends what the setup is trying to do. Sounds like it's asking for his ISP username and password, so yeah, would be his TT one.

First thing would be to make sure the router is in sync, because if it isn't, you're going nowehere :)

Ok I went around last night, I have managed to get it working but only using wireless, if I stick the USB wirless adapter into the main PC it works but it doesnt work hard cabled using the RJ45 ?
