If you fix the sill and the roof you will not have too much of a problem getting your £1300 back on it.
As it stands i would expect to pay £500-700. These aren't worth a great deal in parts but they are still quite sought after. Because its taxed and MOT'ed some one will have it, without the MOT it will drop to about £400.
The prices do move a lot, in the winter picking up a mx5 is so easy. in the summer the same cars go for double the money. for example at the start of the year i bought a beautiful mk1 for £700 (coilover lsd etc) by the summer i could not find a single car of the same spec/condition for under £1900.

That poor little MX5 is probably a pile of rust by now then 
I agree. I nearly went for a Mazdaspeed Spec B Mk1 in that colour combo.

Stick it up for £1300, be honest with the pictures / description, then wait for offers.
