How to watch MP4 on a dvd player?

It seems generally dvd players don't support mp4's that you have to convert them to mpeg2 format, is this right or can you advise how to watch mp4's on a dvd player via dvd disk?

I used to use a program called ConvertXtoDVD which was great, converted fairly quickly and never had any issues playing the files.

Does the DVD player have a USB input? Would it be easier to convert the files and play back through USB rather than burning them?

Most TVs have a USB input (unless really old) and you can play films off a USB stick.
Even my 85 year old Mum did it this way.

Get them on a tablet and cast to the tv using a Chromecast or such. Or you could buy a cheap DVD/bluray with a USB port. But you might have compatibility issues. Hence a tablet is better. Or just a smart phone.

Don’t even bother you will be forever converting stuff. It works but very time consuming.

I don't even remember the last time I saw a TV without a USB slot.

Some older TVs won't play movies from the USB.

If it's a recent TV probably will though.

Already mentioned on post 4 but it would have to be really old.
I think the TV in the kitchen is about 20 years old and that does it.
