Just been talking about what it would take to win an election. i.e vote winning promises.

The top three for me would be

1. Reduce petrol tax.
2. Write off all student loans and make University free or a lot harder to get into.
3. Cancel all Job Seeker allowance.

I take it this is just to get into the hotseat and not looking for any kind of success?

Im not looking for a complete manifesto with figures to back it up, just what issues people would actually go and vote for.

1) Stop immigration via the EU nations (not going to happen)
2) Leave the EU and it's bureaucracy (not going to happen)
3) guarantee sunshine all year round (i live in hope)

That doesn't answer my question. Are you after serious responses that would actually be feasible, or more along the lines of:

1. Send them all back
2. Abolish gayers
3. Make petrol free

Please can you back up what you say? Will be a more interesting thread then.

Do I have to...:D

Well it all depends if the OP was being serious or this is just nonsensical pub banter. But anyone who is willing to throw their vote at such an ill conceived idea as removing job seekers allowance probably doesn't have much of an idea when it comes to the best interests of the country.

I'm guessing the OP has never been made redundant for example....

1. limit immigration (other countries do why can't we)
2. fair spending in between England Wales and Scotland
3. make trains cheaper

1) transparent tax policy - Where all tax levied on road users is spent on the roads and public transport - national insurance pays for the NHS and Benefits - Income Tax pays for central gov't defence etc - local income tax pays for regional services.
2) All criminals to have to work while serving time - On schemes that would not be done by the UK workforce but give cons skills they can use to make a living when they get out.
3) Bring the rail network and all PFI projects back within the gov't

That would just cause huge shifts in Taxation, cue the loss of Fuel Duty going elsewhere.

It's a moot point anyway - does anyone expect a political party to make good on the promises it made to get elected?

i could make a train for £50! :D

Will it hold all the immigrants. If so, job done .

1. Reduce taxes

2. Reduce long term scroungers (community service if no job for 6 months with 1 / 2 days leave for interviews on production of interview confirmation from company).

3. Real punishments for lesser crimes rather than being let off / warned. Rattan cane works well here in Singapore. Remember the US kid caught spray painting cars in Singapore who got the cane with the US trying to get him off........ No chavs here kicking doors and throwing beer cans / stones at windows / cars.

1. Is very unlikely as;

2. Is too expensive to put in the things needed so will not happen. Id cards with fingerprints, dodgy overspent IT project that delivers 1/2 of what it promises at twice the cost in a way that makes the uses give up with half the security checks.

3. Too many people screaming "violence breeds violence, they probably were not loved when young so we should give them all a big hug".
