how to write essays

After having been out of education for 14years I enrolled to a course at my local college.

My first assignment is to write an essay on going to university.

I honestly dont know how to start, discuss and conclude the way I am supposed to do so. This inital assignment is to assess where we are at with essay writing.

Can anyone give me some help and advise, please a site I can visit that will show me the basics. The content is fine, its just a do and dont list I really need.

thanks to you I found it fairly easily.

1st essay on a very simple subject in over 12 - 13 years took me nearly 2hrs 45 mins

As a person mentioned above, the more you write the easier it will get...

Thank you so much I really appreciate your support and cooperation, you cannot believe how easy you made my life just by giving me a structure...

P.S. Can I just say this essay was simple because it wasnt contrast and compare for example the differences between going into full time employment or going to university...

They wanted us to write an essay to explain our expectations and plans for university and actually gave us 6 questions to address mainly:-

- why did you choose this course
- what skills you need and are required
- how will these skills help you
- why do you want to study x subject at uni
- what type of uni do you want to go to
- what do you expect out of the forthcoming year..

I believe it was just for the tutor to ascertain what level of writing we are at and me personally not having an essay in years forgot the method, structure etc...but you guys really helped me resolved that - you rock
