my 146 overclocks to 2.7 with no hassle at all..

thinking of getting a dual core version, do they overclock to the say levels?

My 170 wouldn't, need 1.425vCore to reach 2.6GHz. Others have reached higher using stock volts. I suspect if you can cool the chip really well your results will be better. . .

recent 4400's seem to be doing well.

theres no reason to go for an opty over an x2. i think the x2's are doing better atm

165 opty at 2.7 - stock voltage on epox 9npa+ultra with stock hsf.

i have the same motherboard

what do you need to change to overclock?

i dont get this HTT or whatever its called, and the 16up and 16down stuff :S

i'm only accustomed to good old 32bit amd overclocking.. fsb + multi's..

Opty 165 here. In fact I think it was one of the first ever in the country. I heard about them on S939 and called a specialist CPU retailier (now defunct) who'd never heard of it :p , but managed to track one down later that day. So in a nutshell mine is a very early stepping and therefore isn't a great overclocker.

But I'm still sitting at 2.7ghz on 1.55v with water. The problem I found was the amount of heat it generates under extreme load (because of the two cores) which is why I went with almost silent water. I could have got the same with air but with a lot more fan noise.

I think it will go further and will push it more when I get around to it :) Admittedly it's not as great as some chips but still not bad for something which should be running at 1.8ghz.

as you know its all on the stepping, I would say a good stepping will help you get to 2.7 - 2.8ghz.....my not just a e6300 and get that to 3ghz plus and its cheaper :)

Had my 170 upto 3ghz. Currently stepped it back down slightly to 2.9 ghz @1.47v. That's under phase change though.
is that on AIR or water? .......I havent seen many 170s exceed 2.8ghz on AIR.....even over at DFI forums...

the biggest headache Ive had is that my overclock is stable for 5 - 6 weeks then my machine seems to restart so I go through the whole shhbang again and its beginning to do my head in.....I last had it at 2.7 and my RAM at 530mhz prime stable for 22 hrs, then weeks later I noticed it wasnt stable.....So I lowered both RAM and CPU as stated in my sig....perhaps its my PSU im not too sure...

Can only remember lowering HTT to 3x and setting memory to 150 divider. Will look later and confirm.
