either on xp64 lite or vista business 64 lite (i have both)

my screen at the moment is a 19" xerox, so 1280x1024 is my max res


get it now, or wait till my next upgrade? :eek::o

i hate playing fps if they're jerky
 
it'll play fine :)

I have a similar graphics card, and going from vista to a vlite install made crysis more than playable at reasonably high settings at your native res
 
my gfx card hasn't arrived yet, my mate dropped my space pci-express card and broke it (crappy old thing anyway)

so for two weeks i've been using a pci 9250 (no 64bit drivers) so not played any games :S

sure does encode dvd's quickly though :), will buy crysis then, there's one in mm i've got my eye on

will download the patch(es?) tonight in anticipation
 
Probably get away with high settings but as mentioned knock the shadows down to medium. Definitely get a good cfg as it makes it look so much better.
 
what other newish games should i get? i mainly play fps, but am open to offers (don't want to get into racing games, because i'd have to buy a wheel too)

last games i bought

the coh addon and orange box

i'll get COD4, completed it on my mates 360, but the online play looks awesome
 
crysis on the pc in my sig runs all high, with no AA @ 1440 * 900

i dont have an fps meter, but its smooth and playable :)

UT3? Can get it very cheap I think and it's a great game, just a shame about the bugs (most of which have been fixed) which put a lot of people off playing it. Having said that you can still allways find servers with people on.
 
...what is and isn't playable is pretty subjective...but I owned a 8800GTS 512mb and the crysis single player was just barely playable all high settings 1680x1050.

As for other games, I'm willing to bet that once you start playing CoD4 online you won't really feel the need for any other fps multiplayer game :p
 
is GRAW any good? see it mentioned here pretty often.. ooh,

also, is Gears of War any good?

i've got the feeling it's not the type of game that would port that well.. because of the viewing angles etc
